Wedding Recap! (finally)

My little sister got married almost a month ago, and I'm just getting around to doing an update and posting some pictures...

October 4, 2008 - Wedding Day. All of the months of planning and stress finally came down to one day. Everything went smoothly and it was beautiful. Stephanie made a gorgeous bride. She remained calm throughout most of the day, while it was me and my little cousin that had the break downs.

I have no idea what Megan broke down about, possibly just the stress... Mine was all about the fact that I was going to look like a fat cow in my dress and have to stand beside 5 other skinny girls... I still feel like I stuck out, but oh well. Everyone said that we all looked good.

During the wedding, everything went well. The only small thing that happened is that the ring bearer decided to run back down the aisle to find where his grandma was sitting. It was cute, and the photographer was standing in the perfect place to capture it as it happened.

They have already gotten the online proofs back for the pictures, but they haven't ordered any, and all of the online pictures have watermarks, so I will just post non-pro pics that we got throughout the day.

Getting my hair done. Stephanie is a hair dresser, so the girls at her salon did all of our hair.

The cake and set up. My dad actually designed the cake and told my aunt what to make. He even picked out the flowers on it himself.

I have no idea when this picture was taken... nor do I have any idea what I was doing...

Sickness update

So, I went to the doctor today... and of course, I had to wait like 2 hours, even though I had an appointment. I don't know how I feel about this doctor yet... both of my parents see him, and have seen him for years, and they like him, but it almost seems to me that he's trying to rush you out... after he's taken forever to get in teh room. I'm still deciding what to do about that.

Anyway, He tested me for mono. He said that it didn't look like mono, but since I had been exposed to it recently that he wanted to rule it out. I finally got a call around 6:45 tonight from the nurse telling me that the mono test was negative. So no mono, which is good. I guess its just a bad throat infection. He gave me antibiotics to take for the next week.

My thyroid has been off lately too, so I've been having to go in for more and more blood work to keep that in check and get new meds. I have really bad veins, so they always have to draw blood out of my hand. Well the phlebotomist that I had today, and the past couple of times, really hurt my hand. She would put the needle in and then start twisting it around. OUCH! Well today, she had to do that to both hands... so now both hands are a little bruised.

Anyway, Thanks to everyone who commented about me feeling better. I'm glad I don't have mono, but I hope this clears up quickly... and that my thyroid will get regulated again... Well off to attempt to get some sleep, since I have to be at work at 6am!

I'm such a baby!

I hate being sick! Whenever I get sick, I turn into a whiny baby. Right now, my throat is hurting so bad. It literally feels like its going to close up. You know its bad, when I don't even feel like smoking.

I already had a doctor's appointment scheduled for tomorrow for a check up, so its almost perfect timing to get sick.

Just keep your fingers crossed that I don't have mono... my sister and my cousin have both had it this year, and its one of the last things I need right now!

I promise I'll get caught up one day on this blog. I know I still have to write an update about the wedding and all that fun stuff. Maybe one day I'll quit being a slacker!

Wordle

Someone shared this cool website with me... and now I play around on it from time to time. You paste in text and it randomizes them to create a "word cloud." You can change the options and colors, and I think its kinda cool.

I just realized...

That I never posted pics from the lingerie shower that I co-hosted for my sister. So here are a few of the pics. Everything went really well and she got a lot of stuff. It was a fun night with lots of laughter.

So there you have it... a few pics from the party. I loved how everything turned out. It was very Pink, Green and Black. I got lots of compliments on everything. I love having people over at my house, but it doesn't happen very often!

"Cause everything is rent!"

A couple of weeks ago, Carmen (someone I used to be very close with) called to tell me that they were showing a taping of RENT (recorded live on Broadway) at our local theater and asked me if I wanted to go. Of course, I said Yes!

RENT is like one of my all time favorite musicals. However, my love affair with the show only started a few years ago when it was redone as a Movie. I went to see it and have loved it ever since. The first time that I saw it, I wrote about in my Xanga, which was a blog I kept religiously back then. This is what I posted... (note: the Carmen in this post is not the same Carmen I went to see the live recording with)

So tonight I went to see Rent with Carmen Pack, Jim, and Jim's roommate Buddy. OMG it was so good! I cried.... the music was awesome. I went into it not knowing anything about the story line... all I knew was the "Seasons of Love" song... you know.. 525,600 minutes... but I came out of it only wanting to see it more on Broadway... I am even more excited now!

I also came out of it thinking about my own life... about having no regrets, and living for today and only today. You can't live in the past and you really can't plan for the future. Such a good message.

Is there a movie that gave you a new outlook on life?

I haven't had the chance to see the show performed live (I was supposed to go see it on Broadway, but that trip fell through)... so seeing a taping of a live show, on a big screen was the next best option. It was so GREAT! The music absolutely rocked... but I wouldn't have expected any less. All of the emotions of seeing it for the first time on the big screen came flooding back.

It was also great to catch up with an old friend. We were super close in the past... just like sisters, but we drifted apart over the last couple of years. We ate lunch afterwards, and watched the Pirates bomb their 2nd game in a row... Overall, it was fun to just get out of the house and do something for once!

Off topic Note: I linked my Xanga earlier... I have kept this blog up, mainly for my own reading, but feel free to read it... It will give you great insight into my life in the past... it was a great coping mechanism when I was going through a lot of stuff a few years back and when I did most of my changing as a person. I wrote as if no one was reading, and didn't care what it said... wrote strictly whatever I was thinking. I really hope that this blog will develop into that.

Nights in Rodanthe...

On opening night, my sister and I went to see Nights in Rodanthe at the theater. We got the last 2 tickets for a sold out show in not only 1, but 2 theaters. Over all, the movie was great. Its been a while since I read the book, so I would have to re-read it to do a fair comparison of the book vs. the movie.

I cried, of course, but anything Nicholas Sparks is synonymous with tears in my book. Apparently, the movie really touched a chord with one woman that was watching it, because she wasn't just crying, she was literally wailing... so loudly that anyone could hear her.

I was glad to go out and see the movie. I hadn't been to the movies since Sex and the City back in June. I was also glad to spend a little bit of time with my sister just weeks before she got married.

I would say the movie was a must see for anyone that is a NS fan!

I'm a horrible blogger.

I have been gone for a long time... a lot of stuff going on! I was going to make one HUGE update post, but I think I will make a lot of smaller updates just so that I can make sure that I don't leave anything out.
